LDS Easter Talks
1. The Peace and Hope of Easter by Russell M. Nelson
In this talk, President Nelson shares a story of a miraculous event he experienced in his life. Despite the high likelihood of death, he was able to remain calm because he knew that even if the worst-case scenario happened, it would be okay. Easter represents peace and hope, no matter what life events we may experience.
2. He Is Risen by Thomas S. Monson
President Monson reminds of us Job’s question – “If a man die, shall he live again?” He points out that Christ’s resurrection was the answer to Job’s question. How wonderful is it that because He died for us, we can once live again in eternal joy?
3. None Were With Him by Jeffrey R. Holland
Jeffrey R. Holland encourages us to be mindful in remembering all that Christ has done for us, and what He had to go through so that we may live again. Because He suffered for us, alone and in full, we don’t have to suffer. He sacrificed himself for us, and we must remain grateful.
4. The Glorious Easter Morn by Gordon B. Hinckley
This general conference talk is from the April 1996 General Conference Session. It’s interesting to go back and listen to older conference talks and listen to the church leaders speak about what’s to come and what plans the church has in store. You can see just how much the church has accomplished and how much prophesy has come to pass.
LDS Easter Quotes
Easter is the day that changed everything. – Dieter F. Uchtdorf
It can be easy to overlook Easter as a significant holiday, but if you are focusing on the true meaning of Easter, it’s the most important holiday that there is! It really is the day that everything changed. Without Christ’s life, death, sacrifice, and resurrection, life would be meaningless.
Earth’s saddest day and gladdest day were just three days apart. -Susan Coolidge
It’s amazing the things that can happen in three days’ time. Three days of woe, heartache, and grieving. And then there was rejoicing, celebration, and comfort.
The first Easter sequence of Atonement and Resurrection constitutes the most consequential moment, the most generous gift, the most excruciating pain, the most majestic manifestation of pure love ever seen on Earth. -Jeffrey R. Holland
How can one holiday represent such pain, sorrow, and sacrifice while also representing such joy, celebration, and love? Easter is a one-of-a-kind celebration.
This reality of the resurrection of the Savior overwhelms our heartache with hope. -Elder Paul V. Johnson
Easter is the perfect example of how sacrifice and sorrow are only temporary. There will once again be happiness and joy if we just remain patient, hopeful, and full of faith.
At this Easter season, we give our sure witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of all mankind. Because of His atoning sacrifice, He stands as our Advocate and Savior. Though He was crucified, He rose triumphant from the tomb to our everlasting blessing and benefit. -Thomas S. Monson
It’s amazing to think that every single person who has and ever will live, is reliant on Christ’s sacrifice. His selflessness is the only reason that mankind will have the opportunity to live in eternal joy.
On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the most long-awaited and glorious event in the history of the world. It is the day that changed everything. On that day, my life changed. Your life changed. The destiny of all God’s children changed. -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Thinking back on the day that Christ died for us and was resurrected, it’s incredible to think that the actions that day affected every single person to ever exist. Including me and you!
Christianity, inasmuch as it is the confession of Jesus of Nazareth as the living and powerfully effective Christ, begins at Easter. Without Easter, there is no Gospel . . . no faith, no proclamation, no Church, no worship, no mission. -J. A. T. Robinson
Easter, and all of the events around the first Easter, are the reason that life has meaning, purpose, hope, and joy. If there was nothing to look forward to after this lifetime, what a sad and hopeless life it would be.
I am profoundly grateful for the Redeemer of Easter morning, who grants us life, whose descent below all things makes possible our rising above all things tomorrow if we but seize today. -Lance B. Wickman
Easter is a great reminder of how me must always show our gratitude for the Savior, but it’s also a great reminder that we should be mindful of His sacrifice every day of the year, not just on Easter Sunday!
This is the Lord’s day, when we celebrate the greatest victory of all time, the victory over death. -Gordon B. Hinckley
As humans, we see death as a sure thing. There’s nothing we can do to avoid it. We feel grief and sadness. But because Christ suffered and died for us and overcame death, we can now have faith in knowing that we will overcome death and be with our families for all eternity.
